GILMORE MP, JOANNA GASH TO EXIT FEDERAL POLITICS
Federal MP, Joanna Gash will not be standing for re-election for her federal Seat of Gilmore in NSW.
Mrs Gash said that after 16 years of service to the Australian Parliament, the time had come for a change of direction.
“I want to give something back the community that has sustained me for more than 60 years.” Mrs Gash said.
“Local government has always had an attraction for me and I believe I can offer the community more through that tier of government.
“That is why I will be standing as a candidate for Mayor of the Shoalhaven City Council in the forthcoming Council elections.
“I will continue to serve in my elected role as Federal Member for Gilmore, regardless of the outcome.
“This does not mean I will be slackening off in any way at all and intend to pursue this government for a better deal for the people of Gilmore as energetically as I always have.
“I do not believe the Australian people are being well served by this government and will continue to work hard to ensure this is their last term as well.
“To all of those people who helped make the last 16 years possible, I can only offer you my heart felt gratitude for the faith you have shown in me” Mrs Gash said.
Mrs Gash said her decision came after consulting family and close friends over the holiday period.
